If you are looking for a sophisticated new place that offers an elevated yet casual place to dine and you are near Evangeline Downs then you should be sure to check out The Spotted Horse Tavern and Dining Parlour at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel.
You are in for a real treat with a completely different experience. The Tavern is inspired by the urban legend of a "long necked spotted horse"...or ...a ...giraffe ;) winning a race by using its neck to cross the finish line first. The restaurant has a flair for the fantastic and features a comfortable tavern on one side for those that want to take a break with a nice drink and on the other side is the place to enjoy some delicious down-home cooking. The Spotted Horse Tavern offered a modern take on traditional Louisiana flavours. Yum! They offer many yummy starters ranging from chicken and sausage gumbo, and craw fish and corn bisque to citrus-glazed pork belly and prawns...my mouth is watering just typing this!! Then on to the entree selections with fresh Louisiana catfish and country braised short ribs. They also offer a couples meal for those romantic evenings. And don't forget to have dessert! I know I couldn't with choices like light and cool berries and cream to delicious bread pudding.
The restraint also offers a wide variety of hot sauces (my husband would love this!) with nearly 20 varieties there is sure to be some spicy dishes in the house! I don't know if I'd be up to trying the ghost pepper and blueberry. Or habanero carrot curry but I may just be tempted.
And with a whimsical setting to offers patrons a whole other reason to visit Evangeline aside from the 7/8mile turf track for horse racing and a casino with more then 40,000 square feet of fun and gaming.
