For years I thought my mom just got embarrassed extremely easily, or got hot a lot... When we went out for the evening with my parent's friends she always seemed to blush a lot and was always flushed. I remember many family occasions and pictures where Mom had bright red cheeks even extending to her forehead, chin and neck often.
After I grew into an adult and mom finally asked a doctor about it we found that all those years she was actually reacting to food and drink that she had consumed and that her extreme flushing/blushing was actually a medical condition called Rosacea.
Rosacea is a medical condition with the most common symptoms being redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels usually in the face and neck region. Over 40% of sufferers have a daily occurrence of the symptoms and one of the main triggers is heat followed by sun exposure. My Mom has this as a trigger also but her main triggers are food and allergen based and with 89% of suffers having spicy food as a trigger she is part of a large group!
The doctor ran some simple allergy tests on Mom and found out that she has quite a few triggers that cause her Rosacea and with some simple avoidance of some food and drink she is able to now limit her reactions.
I told my mom about this new site http://www.actonred.ca/ that offers many resources including information on the causes and effects as well as treatment options for Rosacea and she will be reading up on all the great information available to keep her reactions to the minimal. I love how easy the information is to read and take in on the site. Nothing is to medical and it is geared towards the average sufferer who just wants some good information and ideas to help treat their condition! Very easy to read and lots of great information!
Check out the Act on red website for tons of great information on Rosacea and stop the red today!
